The Sussex Review provides honest reviews of restaurants, pubs and eateries in Sussex. We want to show you best places to eat, and the ones to avoid.
1) We never review major food chains or franchises. On the contrary we try to seek out the hidden gems and support the great independents.
2) All reviews take place within Sussex
3) Unlike many websites and publications, we try not to notify a venue before reviewing them. We aim to deliver a ‘real life’ account each time. When we are invited, we will state this in the review.
As well as all this we like to have a bit of fun too!
You’ll find us at food shows, beer festivals, and in our spare time taking on food challenges and creating our own recipes for you to try.
Reviews are categorised using our innovative ‘rib’ system. We carefully and scientifically evaluate the

- service
- atmosphere
- drinks
- value
marking each out of five which enables us to produce an average for the overall ‘rib’ score.‘One rib’ would be a poor experience whereas the coveted ‘Full Rack’ would be a top class meal. Voila!
Please note: all reviews have to be taken in context. It isn’t fair, for example to compare fast food with fine dining and all scores are given accordingly.
